Details

The applicants’ guide is for NHS consultant doctors, dentists and academic GPs applying for a new national Clinical Impact Award in 2023.

The employers’ guide is to help employers who are supporting an application for an award. The assessors’ guide is for anyone assessing applications for a national Clinical Impact Award.

  1. Updated to reflect 2023 national Clinical Impact Awards round is now closed.

  2. The assessors’ guide has been updated ahead of 2023 scoring opening in May. The changes include an update to the timetable, new examples and further information on incoming changes to pensions legislation.

  3. Updated with a revised awards timetable and to say that applications are open until 5 May 2023. Added a section to 'Applicants' guide: 2023 awards round' and 'Employers' guide: 2023 awards round' on flexible retirement.

  4. Updated the call-out box to note that applications on the portal cannot currently be started due to technical issues.

  5. The applicants’ and employers’ guides have been updated to include an annex on transition and reversion arrangements for national Clinical Excellence Awards holders. In the applicants’ guide, part 4 (applying for a new award) has been updated to include information about what happens if an applicant decides not to continue their application, decides not to take up an award, or fails to re-apply. The ‘applicants’ quick guide’ has been updated to include further information on the 2023 awards round, including the timetable and changes to the application process being introduced from 2023 onwards.

  6. Update to 'Applicants' guide: 2023 awards round'. Part 4 - applying for a new award has been amended to clarify how subsequent applications by successful and unsuccessful individuals are handled.

  7. Updated the 'Employers' guide' for the 2023 awards round to reflect the discontinuation of the nominating organisation process, best practice from the 2022 round, and changes to rules regarding pensions, which will implemented from 1 April 2023.

  8. 'Nominators' guide: 2022 awards round' removed. 'Applicants' guide: 2022 awards round' amended to reflect the discontinuation of the nominating organisation process. Also, updated the guidance to include best practice from the 2022 awards round; and to reflect changes to rules regarding pensions, which will be implemented from 1 April 2023.
